As part of ongoing efforts to expand the Borno State Social Register, the Borno State Social Investment Management Programme (BO-SIMP) has commenced the distribution of tokens to heads of households in Mafa Local Government Area. This exercise serves as a prerequisite for the main data capture process under the program

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, upon establishing the program, directed the team to scale up the Borno State Social Register to ensure broader coverage and inclusion.

Speaking during the flag-off ceremony, the General Manager of BO-SIMP, Dr. Lawal Amdan Lawal, reiterated the Governor's commitment to the initiative. He said:“His Excellency, the Executive Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, directed us to scale up the Borno State Social Register. We are commencing this exercise in local governments with a low number of registered households. Prior to this, we engaged with the district head's representative, who assured us of full support for the program.”

In their remarks, Alhaji Bashir Wulgo, the member of the council representing Central Borno in the program, and the Councilor who represented the Chairman of Mafa LGA, urged mapped communities to cooperate fully with enumerators. They emphasized the importance of smooth collaboration to ensure a hitch-free enrollment exercise.

The token distribution and subsequent data capture are vital steps in enhancing the social safety net programs under BO-SIMP, aimed at reaching more vulnerable households across the state.
